Meet the Lesson Horses
Leviathan “Levi”
Levi is an old (37!) year old Appaloosa gelding. Levi is an old hand, and has taught hundreds of people to ride. Levi pretends to be a grump, but everybody knows he’s secretly an old softy who loves to be groomed and fussed over! Last year, he took several students through being part of the show team and brought home many ribbons. He particularly enjoys summer camp, and finger painting sessions where he gets turned into a rainbow!
Eclipse
Eclipse is a 6 year old previously feral mustang. We have had him for a several years, and in that time he has made so much progress! He now willingly accepts pets and snuggles, grooming, having his feet handled, accepts a bit and saddle with no fuss, and has generally settled into being a truly special young horse. He has had a handful of successful rides! During lessons, he gets used to teach Groundwork skills, Showmanship, and Ground Driving.
Percival
Percival has joined us as a permanent member of our program! He is a draft/ quarter horse cross and is used regularly for lessons. He is a sweet, laid back kind of guy most of the time- but he does have a sassy side! He is working hard at unlearning some of his old jousting behaviors- bending is hard when you only know how to go in straight lines!
Bolshoi’s Bluff
Bluff is an ex racehorse, and came to join us from a private owner who had a life emergency and could not complete his rehabilitation. Bluff arrived with a bowed tendon, lots of anxiety, and a sweet and willing disposition.
He is about 16.2 hh, and mid teens. Bluff has worked through his anxiety, healed up nicely, and joined our lesson program! He tries very hard to do whatever his human wants, be they tiny or big, but does need to get his zoomies out before being ready to settle into work. We love this big guy!
Biggie Smalls
Biggs is an appendix paint, and is privately owned but has joined our lesson program on a long term lease. He is a very large fancy boy, and seems to enjoy competing with our students. We look forward to seeing where he can take our riders next!
Ladybug
Lovely little Ladybug is an absolute peach- but don’t be fooled, she has a spunky side too! She can stand for hours getting fussed over by children, then go pop over a cross rail in the arena and then go chase cows. A true versatility pony, Miss Ladybug enjoys spending time with children and herdmates alike.
Noodle
Noodle is a 30 year old mule, and does her absolute best to pack our smallest riders who need an extra dose of gentleness. Under saddle, she is straightforward and no-nonsense. On the ground, she is as wiggly as her namesake! Noodle is a rescue, and was originally an owner surrender.
