Chez Cheveaux

Chez Cheveux is an equine rescue dedicated to the care and rescuing of unwanted Thoroughbred horses and other equines, at all stages of life. Most of the animals that come into their care are ex race horses, unwanted Premarin babies, owner surrenders, or from a killpen. They have been in operation for over ten years, with Melodee and Richard at the helm. Tragically, three years ago Melodee passed away and Richard was left to manage the rescue by himself. When we were looking for a new facility he reached out to us, and after a few conversations it was decided that we could mutually support one another and create an even stronger organization. We are thrilled to support and tend to Melodee’s Legacy, and can’t wait to see what the future holds for us as a team.

Outdoor Arena

Our large outdoor arena is footed with sand, and will soon have bright LED lights for evening and night time riding and lessons. Its large size offers plenty of room for lots of activities- including full jumping courses! We also hope to ultimately apply for funding to convert half of this arena into an indoor arena!

Round Pen

We will be raising funds to build a round pen soon! it is a super important part of our program, and our students spend many hours there! Photo is from our old facility- stay tuned for fundraising efforts!

Barn

Our barn six extra large stalls, including one double stall for pregnant mares! It also has a large two story heated tack and feeding room, and an indoor bathroom!

Pastures

We have three large turnout pastures, with several smaller turnout runs attached to the barn stalls.

At its finest, rider and horse are joined not by tack, but by trust. Each is totally reliant upon the other. Each is the selfless guardian of the other’s very well-being.”
